"Don't Give Up…Don't Ever Give Up!®" - Jimmy V 1993 ESPY Awards

ESPN and the late Jim Valvano created The V Foundation in 1993. Valvano, the legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and ESPN commentator, won the hearts of sports fans across the country when his underdog NC State Wolfpack captured the NCAA Basketball Championship in an upset win in 1983. Ten years later, he inspired millions more with his memorable speech at the inaugural ESPY Awards and he challenged us to raise more money for cancer research.

The V Foundation awards 100% of all cash donations and net proceeds of fundraising events directly to cancer research and related programs.

The 2007 ESPY Celebrity Golf Classic raised net proceeds of $1.3 million dollars for The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
